Umȋd Demȋrhan

Umîd Demîrhan is a Kurd from northern Kurdistan. He is a glossarist, poet, translator and linguist. In 1993, he enrolled in the Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt to the faculty of Arabic Language and Literature. As the government of that time cancelled the diplomas of Al-Azhar, he quitted his studies and in 1995 he enrolled to The University of Khartoum in Sudan, the faculty of Law. This time, validity date of his passport was not extended and he quitted his studies and turned back to Kurdistan. During his staying in Sudan, he finished English Language Teaching Institute of Sudan – ELTIS.

After his coming back (2000-2001), he studied Kurdish and Arabic methodology of theology in a classic madrassah. Between the years 2002 and 2004, thanks to the daily trade relations with Bazargan, İran, he learned Persian language. In 2005, he enrolled to a course by Kurdish Institute of Istanbul and he took the certificate of Kurdish Language Teaching. He was administrator of www.yekbun.com for almost 6 months. Between the years 2010 and 2012 he was Kurdish Language teacher in Bazîd and now he is dealing with researching studies. He speaks Turkish (new Turkish, Ottoman Turkish and Azerbaijani), Arabic, Persian and English apart from his native language. He attends meetings of the Paris Kurdish Institute Kurmancî Magazine research team which are held in northern Kurdistan (the 51st meeting was held in Bazîd, 2012, and the 52nd meeting in Mêrdîn, 2013)
