Kurdish Sun in Winter Warsaw

We have a great pleasure to invite you to the festival Kurdish Sun in Winter Warsaw organised by the Andrzej Wajda Centre For Film Culture along with the ALCITfem team which will take place between 07-09.02.2025 and on 22.02 in Warsaw. The festival will start with the opening of Runak Resulpur's outdoor exhibition and follow with the film screenings and discussions. It is part of the initiative Citizenship, Migration and Women’s Activism in Kurdistan and the Diaspora which is part of the project Science and Society: Bilateral initiative in Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities financed from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism (2014-2021) and the EEA Financial Mechanism (2014-2021) and operated by National Science Centre – Poland (NCN).

February 7

 

3 PM: Opening of the exhibition Jin Jiyan Azadî (Women, Life, Freedom) by Runak Resulpur

Place: Łazienki Królewskie (Royal Park), Agrykola street, entrance from Aleja Chińska (Chinese Alley)

Rounak Rasoulpour is a Kurdish artist from Rojhelat (Iranian Kurdistan), currently based in Sweden. She is known for her beautiful posters, illustrations and covers for books, and is the designer of our festival’s poster. See the artist's website.

12 PM: Family workshops: Art in the Frame: Tales of Dengbêjs 7+

Inspired by the tales of dengbêjs, we will create our own richly illustrated fairy tale together. Join us for a hands-on storytelling experience. Workshop participants will receive a gift copy of “Tales of Dengbêjs: Kurdish Fairy Tales and Stories”  from the Calîl family collection. The Polish translation by Joanna Bocheńska published by Namas in 2014. Beautiful illustrations by Paulina Krajewska. In 2014 the book was nominated to IBBY (Polish Branch) award for its illustrations.
