Dr Marcin Rzepka

He is currently working at the Pontifical University of John Paul II, Institute of History, Krakow. He graduated from the Jagiellonian University, Department of Slavic Studies (1999) achieving MA and Institute of Oriental Philology (2003), he received his PhD in 2008 on the base of the thesis Linguistic and Cultural Aspects of the Bible Translations into Iranian Languages (Persian, Kurdish). Among his fields of interest are ethno-religious situation in modern Iran, history of Bible translations into Iranian languages, and the history of the Kurdistan region. His interests in Kurdish studies are focused on the problems of categorization of the Kurdish people and their language in the European missionary and scholar writings from 19th century, relations between Christians and Kurds, the social role of translator and translated text amongst Kurds. He is the editor-in-chief of the annual, interdisciplinary journal “Orientalia Christiana Cracoviensia” devoted to the study of Christianity in the Middle East.
